Bathtub Gin LA is permanently closed as of November 2023.
Rub-a-dub-dub. You may not be bathing in this speakeasy’s iconic copper bathtub, but you’ll definitely get a quality gin and tonic. Just like its NYC counterpart, Bathtub Gin LA is a speakeasy offering thoughtful cocktails in a 1920s prohibition-style atmosphere. The space’s attention to detail is flawless as guests are swept away into a bygone era of clandestine concoctions. Cozy seating and dim lighting give the feeling of being in on a secret hot spot, making it the perfect date night escape. Entertainment rotates daily with live jazz, burlesque, and DJs delivering solid vibes no matter when you stop by. If you can manage to find the incognito front door on Melrose, you’re in for a sultry night of imbibing.

Bathtub Gin LA Details:
The food is a bit pricey, but delicious–definitely worth ordering a few small plates if you’re with a group. The Burrata is great and the Fried Calamari is much better than it needs to be. The complimentary popcorn is also a nice touch.
Gin & Tonic is Bathtub Gin’s specialty, so would highly recommend ordering one of their seven options–Malfy Blood Orange being a solid choice. Other cocktail options are more pricey but enjoyable. Wines and beers are limited (you cannot tell me you were really going to order a beer from Bathtub Gin).
While the 1920s are surely present during their live music nights of jazz and saxophone tunes (Tuesday-Thursday), the weekend DJs also do a great job of mixing modern deep house and electronic music into the vibe.
Truly a one-of-a-kind ambiance with authentic, ornate décor that will make you second-guess what year it is. Lighting is dim and the space is made for having an intimate conversation with lovers or friends. However, some seats are much better than others (request the sofa!) Reservations are also helpful for buzzy weekend nights.
📸 Photo Ops:
Made popular by the NYC location, the Instagram-ready copper bathtub is located in the room just off the entrance. The bathroom is also lavish enough to warrant a mirror selfie or two.
