If you’re looking for the perfect mix of divey neighborhood bar and dancey nightclub, you’ve found the place. This approachable watering hole along the East Hollywood/Silver Lake border is a staple thanks to its regular DJ performances with fun crowds. Don’t let the prohibition-era décor fool you. This place is a party every day of the week. Literally–they’re open every day. The entrance has more of a chill vibe for conversation while the main room has a stage and dancefloor. Catch one of their rotating dance nights, comedy shows, or live music performances and you won’t regret it. If you have a bad night at The Virgil, I’m sorry to say, but it might be you.
The Virgil Details:
No food here, but Garage Pizza is open late and just a short walk away on Sunset.
This spot is pretty divey so you won’t find craft cocktails. They’ll do basic well drinks, beer, and surprisingly, bottle service. Drinks are pretty expensive ($12-14 minimum for beers) so don’t expect dive bar prices unfortunately.
Possibly the best part of The Virgil is their music selection. A variety of DJs get the crowd going and up-and-coming bands also stop by to play live. DJ genres range from disco to hip hop to reggaeton (basically anything you can dance to).
The 1920s décor gives ideal neighborhood bar vibes. Dim, red lighting, vintage wallpaper and cozy seating nooks make you think you’ve ducked into the saloon of a movie set. Walking into the stage room is an opposite and equally inviting feeling. There’s a spacious dancefloor with flashing lights and seating along the walls. Patrons come with a down-to-earth energy that’ll have you mixing, mingling, and dancing all night.
📸 Photo Ops:
No one place in particular, but there’s plenty of photo shoot potential in their sitting nooks if you manage to snag one.
